This brilliantly clear, pale-straw-colored Sauvignon Blanc leads with fresh and appealing aromas of kefir lime, passion fruit, pink grapefruit, tart apple, honey fig, and hints of lemongrass. This wine is fresh, bright, and crisp. Lively and forward on the palate, our Sauvignon Blanc has zesty notes of tangerine, lime, and grapefruit. Refreshing, full, and vibrant—the palate has a long finish with a lingering impression of green citrus and stone fruit.

Fruit for this 2013 Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc comes primarily from Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley (64%). We chose other lots from similarly prestigious Sonoma County appellations. Fruit from the warmer Dry Creek Valley and Knight’s Valley contributed tropical fruit and nectarine flavors, along with a silky texture. The cooler Russian River Valley lent the wine grapefruit, lime, and mineral characteristics as well as a bright, zingy acid component.
SIMI Sauvignon Blanc is everything a wine made from this noble grape should be. Small amounts of Viognier and Semillon were blended in to contribute additional richness to the palate. We fermented and aged 100% of this wine in stainless steel to guarantee classic, clean, and lively Sauvignon Blanc.
The cool, late-starting growing season of 2013 proved to be a perfect growing season with a later-than-anticipated start date. Temperatures were moderate throughout the season with cool nights and foggy mornings. The Sauvignon Blanc for this wine saw very extended hang time. This slow, gentle ripening resulted in beautiful, concentrated fruit expression and brilliant minerality. Harvest lasted exactly one month, commencing on August 28 and wrapping up on September 28. The average Brix at harvest was a much-desired 23.8 degrees.
The bright citrus notes make you think of warm weather and outdoor entertaining. SIMI Chef Kolin Vazzoler suggests pairing this wine with fresh Dungeness crab with chili and lime, roasted pepper, avocado and arugula salad, smoked oysters with raw vegetable slaw, or Chinese chicken salad.
