Medium straw in color with a golden edge. Aromas of roasted pear, green papaya, Meyer lemon, brown sugar, toasted brioche, lime zest, vanilla and graham cracker. Lemon meringue pie, bright pretty fruit backing up creamy, vanilla, toasted sugar. Intriguing, compelling and uplifted. Silky entry with red pear flavors that build to ripe tropical fruit; pineapple and guava, lifted with citrus notes and sweet toast. A weighty, warm and viscous wine that lingers and excites the palate.
Great growing season for white varietals, a wet spring with rains stopping just at flowering set up an extended growing/ripening season with moderate temperatures 88-90° F day time temperature with cool night and foggy mornings, great for slow gentle ripening. Giving fruit expression and maintaining a brilliant minerality
It's a pleasure to work with this fruit, very limited and special from an old vineyard in Alexander Valley. A beautiful mix of big, broad flavors and aromas, but with a gentile lush texture. A red wine drinker's Chardonnay, full of complexity and ever evolving. It could benefit from decanting.
Great with beurre blanc sauce over green beans, pan-fried Pork chops with apple sauce, classic roasted acorn squash, or Fettuccine Alfredo.
