Aromas of black cherry, blueberry, and white chocolate with notes of clove, white pepper, cedar, hazelnut and cinnamon that leap from the glass. This Zinfandel boasts bright red raspberry and black cherry flavors, with hints of baking spice and toffee lingering in the
background. Full-bodied and rich, finishing with subtle tannins and the traditional kick of black pepper.
The SIMI 2011 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel is a wine Susan Lueker, Director of Winemaker Operations at SIMI Winery, takes a lot of pride in making. Not only is Zinfandel her favorite varietal, but she has known the growers of the fruit for 20 years and had the pleasure of working with them to craft beautiful wines, starting in the vineyard. When the fruit has reached its perfect ripeness, the vineyard is handpicked and delivered to the winery. It then goes into open top fermenters, which gently extract the color, aromatics and tannins. We don’t leave the fruit in contact with the skins for too long in order to maintain the balance of the wine. We hope you can taste the attention to detail that goes into crafting this wine.
