95% Petite Sirah, & 5% Zinfandel
The 2011 Petie Sirah is inky, opaque dark purple with a bright edge. Aromas of cloves, chocolate, roasted coffe, caramel, toffee, fresh fruit compote of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry and black plum with smokey bacon base note. Rich and fully flavored palate of blackberry, plum and black cherry layered with dark spices and exotic notes of cardamom. The finish is lifted with chewy tannins and peppery spice.
100% Dry Creek Valley
Dry Creek Valley wines are pure and honest, characterized by forward fruit that's expressed in the aromatic and on the palate. The wines come from grapes that enjoy warm sunny days and cool lightly breezy evenings. You can almost set you watch by the 3 o'clock breeze that cools the day. Marine influences temper the heat of day and allow for flavor and color accumulation in fruit form Dry Creek.
My impression of this wine is of a beautiful combination of sweet fruit and roasted aromas. Bright fresh fruit notes laced with smokey bacon and sweet toffee caramel notes leap from the glass. The aromas draw you in with decadence and intrigue. One the palate the fresh fruit prevails and the spices kick in at the finish. Delicious. One of our favorites.
Anything big and bold. Spicy venison chili, turkey mole, pizza with sausage and roasted fennel, and goat cheese stuffed burgers.
